FAQ's About AmeriColor Products:

(Please continue to email us with your questions- we may post yours!)

Question: Are Americolor products FDA approved or are they just "food safe"?

Answer: AmeriColor food colors are not only FDA approved, they are also Certified Kosher and for those products that contain fats, Trans-fat free.

AmeriColor food colors are manufactured and packaged in facilities that do not allow exposure to Peanuts, Wheat/Gluten, Tree Nuts, Sesame, Fish, or Crustacean.

AmeriColor's Meringue powder does contain egg whites. This product is packaged in a separate clean area with no cross contamination with the other product lines.

All colors are sealed so you can be sure that no contamination will occur once they leave the factory.

Question: What is the shelf life of AmeriColor colors and how should I store them?

Answer: These products have a very long shelf life if the proper care is taken.
Because the color will degrade on exposure to light, it is best that the colors are stored in a dark cupboard.

They also should be kept as near to room temperature as possible-
try not to let them freeze or get too hot.

Should spoilage occur, it is usually very obvious.
The bottle will bulge, the product will have a foul odor and possible off looking color.
At this point the safest thing to do is to dispose of the product and use a fresh bottle.

Question: Are these products safe to ship?

All of the AmeriColor products are able to withstand the normal shipping process without
any problems. In the smaller bottles, occasionally you may have a bottle that will
leak. This is due to the changes in pressure and is regretably unavoidable.
Should you have a bottle that has a severe problem please contact us directly
immediately after reciept of your package.

We reserve the right to either replace the bottle in question or credit your account.

Question: What is your return policy?

Because these are considered to be food products, we cannot accept returns for our
products unless the product is clearly defective upon receipt.
Please review product information carefully and email us with any questions prior to ordering.

Our products are carefully inspected and packaged prior to shipping.
Should you have a question about a product that may be defective, please email or call us immediately after recieving your shipment.

Question: How do I use the airbrush colors?

These colors are usually used without diluting- they are ready to use straight from the bottle. For the regular colors try a psi setting of about 10. For the metallics and sheens, increase that to about 15 psi.
As for how much color you are going to need, this will vary with each user and their particular airbrush.

Make sure that you start with a very clean airbrush unit to avoid any clogging. Rinse very well with filtered water between colors to make sure to get any leftover color out.

For small details, a .70 oz bottle will go a long way (say you are coloring piped flowers on a cake). For a whole cake, it may take a couple of bottles to get decent coverage- you will want to have a larger bottle on hand for those projects. You will get the feel for how much you need as you go along- so allow yourself more color at the beginning so you don't come up short.
